As with all of Jack Neo’s films, we can expect a bit of everything. The jokes are funny, though dramatic at times, and very local flavoured.

Hurry up lah! Chepat! Samula!

Familiar to the guys, relatively foreign to others. Jack Neo has created many a nostilgic feelings for most of us that had served. Many of us who have graduated from active service to reservist, will know it when a SAF100 comes calling. The difference will be either a half day at a resort, a week staying at a chalet, or the best 2 weeks in the year cleaning up at an airbnb sponsored by the military.

In ABTM4, we find the usual suspects growing in life, earning a keep and having families, not in that order or applicable to all of them. Some old faces did themselves good and made it good in their lives, whilst others struggle and try their best in making a living. Putting all that aside, they all got the golden ticket of a SAF100 for a “high key” call up, otherwise known as the extended stay the exclusive airbnb with food provided for 2 weeks. For some, it is a breath of fresh air, as fresh as it can ever get in a camp that is, which is very clean by the way. For others, it is a hump or pot hole in the road. With different mindsets and expectations, the group comes together for a long awaited ICT (In camp training) with their usual bunk mates, and meet new ones too.

Cue in the new officer, played by Apple Chan. She faces the platoon, slams them for being ill disciplined, and gets ridiculed being the only female amongst a sea of male. Sexist? Definitely. Yet this is true in our service, it is a male dominant environment with chauvinists abound. In this film, Jack Neo does his best to show how an attractive female soldier performs her role to the best of her abilities in an uphill climb.

As with all of Jack Neo’s films, we can expect a bit of everything. The jokes are funny, though dramatic at times, and very local flavoured. There’s a scene in “Under one roof”, where we have Ronnie going blurr with 3 of his friends speaking in their native tongue. He understood nothing and everyone else understood each other. Add hokkien to the mix. Now ki chew if you can remember the scene. That is more or less what you will expect from the jokes.

Now get to the box office and grab yourself tickets for this entertaining flick!
