Synopsis After losing his father at a young age, Yong-hu (PARK Seo-jun) repudiates the existence of God and resolves only to believe in himself. Years later he has become a martial arts champion, but one day he discovers stigmata on his palms (marks that correspond to the wounds suffered by Jesus on the crucifix). Hoping to rid himself of the painful stigmata, Yong-hu searches out Father AHN (AHN Sung-ki), and finds him while the priest is performing an exorcism. When Father AHN suddenly falls into danger, Yong-hu ends up saving him thanks to his stigmata and martial arts skills. Even while denying it, Yong-hu comes to realize the power of his stigmata, and as his fellowship with Father AHN deepens, he starts to perform exorcisms with him. However, an evil figure named Jisin (WOO Do-hwan) kills a girl named Min-joo who was recently exorcised by Father AHN and Yong-hu. Jisin hatches a plan to ensnare and kill more people. Father AHN and Yong-hu try to defeat him, but Father AHN is mortally wounded in the fight. Yong-hu takes strength from the God he once rejected and faces off against Jisin...

A mashup of horror and action genres, ‘Divine Fury’ follows MMA fighter Yong-hoo (Park Seo-joon) whose mother’s death when he was young led him to spurn religion and God. In doing so, he has allowed demonic forces to take advantage of his anger, leading him to nearly beat his opponent to death. At night, when he is asleep, a demonic spirit attacks him. He also develops stigmata-like wounds in the palm of his hands. He finally decides to consult a medium, who advises him to meet a priest.

The priest is Father Ahn (Ahn Sung-ki), who is attacked by a demon. Yong-hoo arrives just in time to outfight the demon with his MMA skills. The stigmata wounds also give him the power to exorcise the demon. Feeling sympathetic for Anh, Yong-hoo decides to team up with the Father. They manage to connect their recent cases to a discotheque, where the owner Ji-sin (Do-Hwan Woo), also known as the Dark Bishop, is sacrificing souls to a serpent demon.

The film reminds one of Keanu Reeves' Constantine, but its action sequences are rather underwhelming. While the film started out great, midway through, the plot becomes predictable. The final fight with the Dark Bishop concludes the film on an anticlimactic note. Divine Fury is slated to be the first of a franchise.
