All the 3 awards given by separate juries.Ilo Ilo is the most awarded film at the festival - only 2 feature films were given awards. Ilo Ilo played along side other films from the festival from directors such as Robert Redford and Joseph Gordon Levit.
1) Adolph Zukor
The grand jury prize called the Adolph Zukor prize named after a famous Hungarian director (1000 EUR prize) .
Jury citation: For the extraordinary performances of an ensemble cast, supporting a highly cinematic vision of loneliness among family members in the heart of contemporary metropolis, the jury's prize goes to Ilo Ilo.2) FIPRESCI Prize
The FIPRESCI often gives out awards during film festivals (such as the Toronto International Film Festival, the Cannes Film Festival, the Venice Film Festival and the Warsaw International Film Festival) to reward what they see as enterprising film making.
The International Federation of Film Critics is an association of national organizations of professional film critics and film journalists from around the world for "the promotion and development of film culture and for the safeguarding of professional interests." It was founded in June 1930 in Belgium and has members from more than 50 countries worldwide.
3) International Ecumenical Jury prize.
The Ecumenical Jury awards its prizes to directors who have shown
genuine talent and succeeded in portraying human experience that is in
harmony with the gospel or in sensitising viewers to spiritual, human or
social questions and values. It honors works of the high
cinematographic quality, which bear witness to the power of film as an
artistic medium for communication and visual expression to reveal the
mysterious depths of human beings through what concerns them their hurts
and failings as well as their hopes.
Jury Citation: With subtle strokes and an empathic view at every person, Ilo Ilo is a sensitive description of a middle class family in Singapore which has to struggle with difficult relationships emphasized by a financial crisis. It shows how an immigrant maid from the Philippines helps the son to grow up and the parents to take off their masks, becoming more human and true.Child actor Koh Jia Ler who plays one of the leads in Ilo Ilo also wins Best Actor award at the 9th Eurasia Film Festival in Kazakhstan held from Sept 16-21.
New Zealand's film director and Oscar holder Jane Campion chairs the jury of the 9th International Film Festival Eurasia. Jane Campion is the second out of four women ever nominated for the Academy Award for the Best Director and is also the first female filmmaker in the history to receive the Palme d'Or (for The Piano).
The jury also included Filipino film director Brillante Mendoza awarded with the Best Director for his Kinatay film at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival, Spanish director, producer and actor Luis Minarro and famous American screenwriter David Franzoni. Franzoni's best known screenplay Gladiator won five Academy Awards at the 73rd Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Actor for Russell Crowe.
