All films have been carefully selected by the Goethe-Institut Programmers aiming to reflect the best of contemporary German cinema. The theme for this year's festival is the search for identity. The German filmmakers approach this in a variety of ways. In the particularly rich Second World War drama Phoenix, the protagonist returns to Berlin to piece together the fragments of her past.

Highlights of the festival include multiple award winning thriller 'Victoria' displays filmmaking on an exceptional level, capturing the up-beat vibe of the city of Berlin by following the characters through the night in real time – filmed in just one hypnotizing camera sequence.

The festival will be launched with the biggest German dramedy of the year, 'Head Full of Honey' that attracted more than 7 million viewers in Germany in 2014! It tells a moving story by Til Schweiger, who stares in, produced, and directed the film: illustrating the issue of dementia through the loving relationship between a grandfather and his granddaughter.

Additionally, The GFF 2015 will be honoring the exceptional German director, major auteur and enfant terrible of New German Cinema Rainer Werner Fassbinder with a retrospective in the National Museum of Singapore - on what would have been his 70th birthday.
