The opening film is the Oscar-nominated, Golden Globe-nominated, critically acclaimed ‘My Life as a Zucchini’. The ticket for the opening film’s screening comes with a cocktail and a chance to speak to Gregory Beaussart, puppets director of the movie, during the Q&A session after the screening.

Here are the six films that will be screened:

MA VIE DE COURGETTE (My Life as a Zucchini)

Synopsis: After his mother’s sudden death, Zucchini is befriended by a police officer. Raymond, who accompanies him to his new foster home, filled with other orphans his age. At first he struggles to find his place in this strange, at times hostile environment. But with Raymond’s help and his newfound friends, Zucchini eventually learns to trust and love, as he searches for a new family of his own.

BALLERINA (Leap)

Synopsis: Félicie is a young Breton orphan with only one passion: dance. With her best friend Victor, who would like to become a great inventor, she puts together a nutty plan in order to escape from the orphanage and to head for Paris, the City of Lights with its Eiffel Tower now under construction. Félicie must fight like she’s never fought before to overcome and to learn from her mistakes in order to fulfil her most crazy dream: to become the prima ballerina at the Paris Opera…

AVRIL ET LE MONDE TRUQUÉ (April and the twisted world)

Synopsis: During the Second French Empire, a scientist is mandated to develop an invulnerability serum to fight against the Prussians. However, after an incident in the lab, the course of History is changed. In 1941, France is still stuck in the 19th century and many scientists mysteriously disappear. At the same time, Avril, a teenage girl who lives with her cat Darwin, goes in search for her missing scientist parents.

LA JEUNE FILLE SANS MAINS (The girl without hands)

Synopsis: A poor miller gets tricked by the Devil and accidentally sells his daughter for a bit of gold. But Satan can’t take her because she’s too pure and has wept on her hands. So Satan orders the miller to cut her hands off. It’s the beginning of the young girl’s journey towards freedom. This movie is an animated adaptation of the Grimm brother’s fairytale.

IVAN TSAREVITCH ET LA PRINCESSE CHANGEANTE (Ivan Tsarévitch and the Changing Princess)

Synopsis: Every night, a girl, a boy and an old projectionist meet up in an abandoned movie theatre. Together, they imagine incredible stories, play dress-up games and dream they’re fairy tale heroes. They stretch their imagination and pose as princesses and explorers: “The Mistress of Monsters”, “The Wizard Student”, “The Sailor and his cat” and “Ivan Tsarévitch and the changing princess” are the 4 dreamy stories resulting from these whimsical games.

LOUISE EN HIVER (Louise by the Shore)

Synopsis: On the last day of summer, Louise, an old woman realizes that the last train has departed without her. She finds herself alone in a small seaside resort town, abandoned by everyone. The weather quickly turns for the worse followed by the seasonal tides. Fragile and coquettish, not nearly as well-prepared as a would be Robinson Crusoe, Louise isn’t likely to make it through the winter…
