The European Union Film Festival (EUFF), the longest running foreign film festival in Singapore, closed with record numbers. Over 5,000 viewers watched the 27 films screened, with 13 films that had a sold-out run. In addition, audience attendance overall was an encouraging 84%, a significant increase from previous editions.
The 27th EUFF showcased 27 films from 27 countries across Europe. Each year, this festival brings Singaporean and European communities together and opens up a space for cross-cultural dialogue.
Says Dr Michael Pulch, European Union Ambassador to Singapore: "In this historically significant year which marks 60 years of the European Union, we looked at deepening our long-established cultural connections with Singapore. In this context, National Gallery Singapore was a fitting venue partner for the longest running foreign film festival here. I am delighted that we drew a record number of film and art lovers to the new setting and I hope to continue with this partnership as we look towards 2018.”
The EUFF was proud to host three film and art personalities who attended the festival. The lead actor of the opening film 'Goodbye Berlin (Tschick)', Anand Batbileg, made his appearance during the Opening Night of the festival.

Audiences present at 'The Chinese Lives of Uli Sigg' were treated to a post-show conversation with the director of the art documentary, Michael Schindhelm and the film's main subject, renowned Swiss art collector, Uli Sigg. The evening offered a fascinating insight into one man’s art collection that has been key in shaping the future of Chinese contemporary art.
