It’s official. The Dowager Countess and the rest of the Downton Abbey gang are returning for the movie.
The
movie
, which opens in Singapore this November, is a continuation of the British historical period drama television series of the same name.
The film is set in 1927, and features a visit to Downton Abbey from the royal family - King George V and Queen Mary, the grandparents of Queen Elizabeth II. Their head butler, Carson is invited back to the house to ensure that all things run smoothly during the royal visit, but it is up to Carson to accept the job.
Maggie Smith is set to return as Violet Crawley, the Dowager Countess of Grantham, together with a number of original cast members including Michelle Dockery, Joanne Froggatt, Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Lesley Nicol, and Laura Carmichael.
In addition, expect a plethora of famous faces joining the cast, such as Imelda Staunton (Harry Potter), Geraldine James (Sherlock Holmes), Simon Jones, David Haig (Killing Eve) and Tuppence Middleton (Sense8).
