The Middle East Film Festival (MEFF) 2020 returns with another culturally-diverse programme from 14-19 February at Golden Village VivoCity.
Presented by the Middle East Institute at the National University of Singapore, with film curation and support by the Singapore Film Society, MEFF 2020 features 7 outstanding, award-winning films (all Singapore premieres!) from Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Tunisia, Algeria, Turkey, Israel and Morocco.
From drama films to comedies, the opening film, titled “The Perfect Candidate” is about an ambitious young doctor working in a small-town clinic in Saudi Arabia. After she is prevented from traveling to Dubai in search of a better job, a bureaucratic mix-up leads her to stumble upon the application for her local city elections, and she decides to run. The film is directed by Haifaa Al-Mansour, and was the official Oscars 2020 submission from Saudi Arabia.
Other films include “The Orphanage” (Afghanistan), “A Son” (Tunisia), “Papicha” (Algeria), “The Tale of Three Sisters” (Turkey), “The Day After I’m Gone” (Israel) and ‘The Unknown Saint’ (Morocco).
Tickets are at $13, with concession for seniors aged 55 and above, students, NSFs at $10 each. Concession tickets are only available at any Golden Village box-office with proof of valid card. More details
