Netflix Presents' Vinterviken 2021'

Netflix announced a new featured film titled ‘Vinterviken 2021’ and if it sounds familiar, it is because this will be a modern adaptation of Mats Wahl's acclaimed novel Vinterviken, which was also turned into a successful film in 1996.

The story is set in Stockholm 2021 and focuses on the love story between Elisabeth and John-John. The two are raised in the same city, yet they are complete opposites due to them being separated economically, socially and culturally since birth. Until the day they start in the same high school class.

The modern adaptation will be produced by Filmlance International, a part of Endemol Shine Group, with Teresa Alldén as producer and Alexis Almström as director. Dunja Vujovic serves as the screenwriter. The trio has previously collaborated on a series, Top Dog.

Vinterviken 2021 will release globally on Netflix and will be co-produced by Sveriges Television.
