Comedy Films That Have Given Us Some of the Best Laughs

By Sarene  /  25 Jun 2021 (Friday)

Did you know by watching a comedy film is one of the best stress relievers? What’s life without a little bit of comedy right?

Here are some of the best comedies that are bound to make you laugh:

The Change-Up  (2011)

Once inseparable pals, Dave (Jason Bateman) and Mitch (Ryan Reynolds) have drifted apart over the years. Dave is an overworked lawyer and family man, while Mitch has thus far avoided most of the normal responsibilities of adulthood. Each is envious of the other's life, and following a drunken binge, the men awake to find they have somehow switched bodies. Dave and Mitch soon discover that things are not as rosy as they seemed and try to find a way to return their lives to normal.

It’s funny, crude and stars Ryan Reynolds. There's no reason you shouldn't watch this.

Where to watch: Netflix

Wanderlust (2012)

George (Paul Rudd) and Linda (Jennifer Aniston) have overextended, overstressed lives in Manhattan. After George loses his job, he and Linda have little choice but to move to Atlanta and stay with his terrible brother. On the way, the couple happen upon Elysium, an idyllic counterculture community, where money, careers and clothing are strictly optional. George and Linda think that they can make a fresh start in Elysium, only they may be trading one set of problems for another.

This is a great pick for those who like a semi-sarcastic Paul Rudd!

Where to watch: Netflix

Borat Subsequent Moviefilm (2020)

Released from prison for bringing shame to his country Kazakh, funnyman Borat risks life and limb when he returns to America with his 15-year-old daughter.

Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, has so many hilarious and iconic moments that you don’t want to miss.

Where to watch: Amazon Prime

Johnny English (2003)

Pascal Sauvage (John Malkovich), a villain intent on stealing Britain's Crown Jewels, has murdered the country's top undercover agents, and mediocre spy Johnny English (Rowan Atkinson) is ordered to prevent further mayhem. But even with help from quick-thinking sidekick Bough (Ben Miller), the goofy agent lands himself in one precarious situation after another. Only when he meets up with Interpol crime-fighter Lorna Campbell (Natalie Imbruglia) is Johnny able to chip away at Pascal's defenses.

Johnny English is a British classic starring a British icon. Perfect in every way from plot to acting, and comedy to action.

Where to watch: HBO GO

Bruce Almighty (2003)

Bruce Nolan's (Jim Carrey) career in TV has been stalled for a while, and when he's passed over for a coveted anchorman position, he loses it, complaining that God is treating him poorly. Soon after, God (Morgan Freeman) actually contacts Bruce and offers him all of his powers if he thinks he can do a better job. Bruce accepts and goes on a spree, using his new-found abilities for selfish, personal use until he realizes that the prayers of the world are going unanswered.

Bruce Almighty humor is amusing and downright hilarious.

Where to watch: Disney+

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004)

Hotshot television anchorman Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) welcomes upstart reporter Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) into the male-dominated world of 1970s broadcast news -- that is, until the talented female journalist begins to outshine Burgundy on air. Soon he grows jealous, begins a bitter feud with Veronica and eventually makes a vulgar slip on live TV that ruins his career. However, when an outrageous story breaks at the San Diego Zoo, Ron may get a chance to redeem himself.

A hilarious newsroom comedy! Will Ferrell and Steve Carell especially shine in their roles and bring great laughs. Regarded as one of the best comedy films of the 2000s, it is chockful of quotable lines and scenes I'm sure you would've seen in a meme somewhere.

Where to watch: HBO GO
