The 2021 Korean Film Festival (KFF) organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Singapore returns with its first ever hybrid line-up for all to enjoy from 7th October.
Aptly themed “Here We Live, Here We Grow”, this year’s KFF will feature 8 titles over 15 screenings at Golden Village Suntec with Embassy’s local partners, and up to 30 classic Korean films online via meWATCH, Singapore’s representative VOD platform by Mediacorp in partnership with Clover Films.
KFF will open with a simultaneous screening of “The Book of Fish” directed by Lee Joon Ik in partnership with Busan International Film Festival.
“The Book of Fish” tells a story of a young fisherman Chang-dae (BYUN Yo-han), who helps an exiled scholar JEONG Yak-jeon (SUL Kyung-gu) to write a book about sea creatures during his time on Heuksan Island, forming a strong bond despite their different backgrounds and perspectives.
There will be Q&A session with the director and film cast in Korea post-screening as well!
There are in-person screenings, running over 2 weekends from the 7 to 17 of October 2021. Watch films such as 'Exit' (starring Yoona and Jo Jung-suk), Deliver Us From Evil (starring Hwang Jung-min, Lee Jung-jae and Park Jeong-min).
Be sure to catch the special inclusion of “Minari” a gentle film about finding home in the heartlands which saw South Korean veteran actress, Youn Yuh-jung, winning “Best Supporting Actress” at the 2021 Oscars awards.
The titles, screened across 15 time slots, will be free and open to all vaccinated individuals. For more details on the line-up and ticket registration, please visit KFF website: www.sgkff.com
Online Screening
30 titles in total will be released for free via meWATCH, Mediacorp’s VOD platform from 7th October 2021, with 6 new titles introduced each week.
Singapore fans can reminisce the Korean classics and embrace on screen romance with titles like “Contact” or “Lover’s Concerto”. If you are thriller seekers, be sure to add “A tale of two sisters” and “Blood and Ties” to your playlist.
