Remember Cliff Booth from
Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood
? Well, it looks like he's about to be getting his own film.
Brad Pitt, who won an Oscar for portraying Booth, is reportedly in talks to reprise the role in a new film written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by David Fincher. The project has been described as an extension of the mythology of the first film without necessarily being a direct sequel and will be set up at Netflix.
Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood
was released in 2019 to critical acclaim and has since been considered as one of the best films of the 2010s and 21st century. It was written and directed by Tarantino, featuring an ensemble cast led by Leonardo DiCaprio, Pitt and Margot Robbie. The comedy drama was set in 1969 Los Angeles, following a fading actor (DiCaprio) and his stunt double (Pitt) as they navigate the rapidly changing film industry with the threat of the Tate murders looming.
Acclaimed director Fincher – known for his work on
Zodiac
(2007),
The Social Network
(2010),
Gone Girl
(2014) and more – had previously directed Pitt in the films
Se7en
(1995),
Fight Club
(1999) and
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
(2008). His relationship with Netflix includes his work on series such as
House of Cards, Mindhunter,
and
Love, Death & Robots
as well as the films
Mank
(2020) and
The Killer
(2023).
While Fincher and Tarantino currently do not have any films in the works, Pitt is set to star in the upcoming sports action drama,
F1
, opening in cinemas this 26 June.
