It was full house at the much-anticipated re-opening of Golden Village (GV) Jurong Point after its major uplift. The newly-renovated cinema saw an overwhelming crowd as residents in the vicinity streamed into the multiplex, eager to experience the new features of their favourite heartland cinema.
In conjunction with the re-opening of GV Jurong Point was also the premiere of the much talked-about film, Marvel’s The Avengers. It was a sight to behold as diehard fans of the film dressed up as characters in the film. Two avid Marvel supporters drew much attention from the passers-by as they strolled in wearing massive headgears, impersonating Thor’s Loki.
Mr. Gerald Pathy who brought his five-year-old son, Gerron, clad in an Iron Man getup, said, “The refurbished GV looks brighter, more spacious and definitely more inviting. My wife and I have been coming to this cinema for the past seven years for our weekly movie dates. GV means a lot to us and we are delighted to be able to enjoy a new cinema which holds our precious memories.”

Singapore’s favourite TV personality, Aunty Lucy, also made an appearance to distribute gifts to the loyal GV supporters as well as introduce them to the latest features of the new GV Jurong Point. Aunty Lucy delighted the young and old alike as the public took the opportunity to snap photographs with her.
A Jurong resident, Gwen Lee, aged 26 said, “I like how I can just walk over to a top- notch cinema with excellent sound system and screens without having to journey too far from home. It is incredible to experience Marvel’s The Avengers in the new and improved facilities. I will definitely come back to GV for more movies.”
