To be fair, there are many deserving films, directors, actors and creatives that are nominated for the Academy Award, Hollywood’s highest honour of cinematic achievements, but as with any Oscar here, there are bound to be the unexpected and the surprising misses.
Here are the biggest Oscar snubs.
[Carol] Carol might be one of the front-runners in terms of nominations, but no Best Picture and Best Director (Todd Haynes) is shocking. The fact that there are only eight out of the possible ten slots that were filled, one can’t help but wonder why Carol was left out since it was highly well-received by critics and moviegoers. InCinemas even named it as our ‘Die-Die-Must-Watch’ film of the year! The Martian, in our opinion, was one of his better works and we felt it was a sure in for him. This is truly a very unexpected turnout.
