With an upgrade of technology in the new ‘Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle’, the sequel to Robin Williams’ 1995 original, will this new adventure film measure up to its predecessor?
Everyone loved, alright, adored the original with the story about a cursed board game that unleashes the unthinkable in the real world. For the upcoming sequel that is slated to drop end of this year, we see a group of teenagers stumbling across a retro video game while serving detention in school.
The concept is somewhat similar, where the players are ‘forced’ to complete the game, only to be thrown into its jungle world, in the bodies of the four avatars, portrayed by Karen Gillan, Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock), Kevin Hart and Jack Black.
[Synopsis]
In a brand new Jumanji adventure, four high school kids discover an old video game console and are drawn into the game's jungle setting, literally becoming the adult avatars they chose. What they discover is that you don't just play Jumanji - you must survive it. To beat the game and return to the real world, they'll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, discover what Alan Parrish left 20 years ago, and change the way they think about themselves - or they'll be stuck in the game forever.
