Robert Downey Jr. talks to animals in first “Dolittle” trailer

Robert Downey Jr. is an animal whisperer in the first trailer for “Dolittle”, Universal Pictures’ reimagining of the classic story about a man who could speak to animals.

This adaptation, however, won’t be a laugh riot like the 1990’s Dr. Dolittle starring Eddie Murphy. It seems to be leaning towards a more adventurous and intense film with a whole lot of exotic talking animals. From polar bears to a colourful parrot, an ostrich and there’s even a scene of a ferocious tiger who calls him ‘lunch’.

Downey Jr. stars as the titular human-talking adventurer, along with an all-star cast that includes Antonio Banderas and Michael Sheen in addition to voice actors Tom Holland, Ralph Fiennes, Emma Thompson, Octavia Spencer, Selena Gomez, Rami Malek, Marion Cotillard and Kumail Nanjiani

Originally called The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle, the film is now jus Dolittle, and has moved its release date to 16 January 2020.
