Kirsten Tan’s road trip movie ‘
Pop
Aye
’
wins yet another award overseas - the International Critics Prize (FIPRESCI Prize) at the 10th NETIA OFF CAMERA International Film Festival in Krakow, Poland. This award comes less than a week after winning the Jury Prize at the 3rd Bangkok ASEAN Film Festival!
This marks the fourth award the film has won since its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, where it received the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for Screenwriting.
The International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI, short for Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique) is an association of national organizations of professional film critics and film journalists from around the world for "the promotion and development of film culture and for the safeguarding of professional interests." It was founded in June 1930 in Brussels, Belgium.

POP AYE played to 3 sold-out audiences, with its question and answer session lasting over 40 minutes. In his speech during the awards ceremony, producer Lai Weijie said: “It is very heartening to know that our humble film struck a chord with audiences here. Independent cinema has always been about generosity. We have been made to feel so welcome by Polish audiences. We would like to thank the entire festival team, the jury, and of course the beautiful city of Krakow.”
The film opens in the United States, Norway, The Netherlands, and Thailand in June.
Pop Aye is still screening in Singapore!
