The New Live-action Pikachu Movie is Weird but still Pretty Adorable

Ryan Reynolds voices the yellow electric Pokemon in Warner Bros’ upcoming live-action movie ‘
Pokemon Detective Pikachu
’. The movie makes a bold move: to create a hyper-realistic imagination of what would it be like if these breathing creatures were to come to life alongside human actors. The answer? Fur and all.
We are familiar with Reynolds as the potty-mouthed Marvel character, Deadpool. While he loses the vulgarities as Pikachu, we still get a lot of his Deadpool schtick and the humorous side of it.
The trailer focuses on a young man named Tim (Justice Smith) who once had dreams of being a Pokemon trainer but has given up hope. One night, he found a wild Pikachu in his home, only to realise he understands every single word that comes out from the fuzzy Pokemon’s mouth - but it seems only Tim can understand it. To the rest of the world, it’s all ‘Pika pika’.
The film also stars Ken Watanabe, and renditions of Pokemon such as Jigglypuff, Psyduck, Bulbasaur, Charizard and Mime are featured as well.
The movie is slated to hit InCinemas May 2019.
